Dinner with Madness

During the springtime, the lawns around the Alice in Wonderland statue in Central Park are a fun place to people-watch and relax. Commissioned in 1959 by George Delacorte in memory of his wife, Margarita, who adored Lewis Carroll’s whimsical world, the statue is a tribute to a timeless tale but also a celebration of creativity. Unlike many sculptures, it encourages you to climb over the characters, sit beside Alice, or hide behind the mushroom, making it a place where fantasy feels real in the middle of the city.
Just a few steps away is a serene reflecting pool that perfectly complements the imaginative spirit of the statue. It's the kind of place where you might sit on a bench, sip a coffee, watch boats glide by, and feel a little more connected.
To lean into the whimsical, we asked makers to feature things starting with M in their artwork. Take a look and see how many M things, creatures, and moments you can count!
